From Nanoscience to nanotechnology

Nanotechnology is designated by many as a driving force for the 21st century. The development of new technologies within the Materials, environment, energy and health. In general, Nanoscience revolves around understanding, designing, manufacturing and controlling new functional materials and objects on a scale from 0.1 to 100 nanometers.
The fields of application of nanotechnology range enormously far. From medicinal products that are dosed in the body from nano-containers exactly in places where needed, to new catalysts for cars and the chemical industry that provide cleaner, environmentally friendly and more efficient production. Many of these areas of research are highly topical as they try to solve some of the planet's major global challenges.
