The medicine of the future

Most of the medications that we take today are dangers throughout the whole body, and work both on the sick and the healthy cells. It makes it less effective, and creates many side effects for the patient. However, the medicine of the future will be wrapped in small packets of nano-size, which can be transported through the blood to the diseased cells where the capsules are stuck to disease-specific receptors on the surface. As a Trojan horse, the cell is lured to record the particles, which then decompose and emit the medication – directly on the spot. Research into targeted nanomedicine is developing rapidly, and human trials have just begun. The lecture will provide an insight into what is possible today and what development we can expect in the coming years in the field.
