LECTURES

Nordlys

Nordlys

Our local star is the sun, but what does the sun consist of and what processes take place in the sun? The sun emits both particles and electromagnetic waves. What happens when the electrically charged particles hit the earth's magnetic field? Where are particles taken, are they dangerous and how do we experience them?

The lecture is based on the sun and follows the particles on their way to earth and beyond, where they hit the earth's magnetic field and enter the atmosphere, where they hit the atoms and molecules of the atmosphere and give rise to the northern lights.

The lecture explains how the Northern Lights occur, what it is, where to find information about the Northern Lights and where you have the greatest chance of experiencing this imaginary natural phenomenon.
