Call for options for the H. C. Ørsted medal for primary school teachers 2020

Now it's time to nominate the primary school teacher of the year to H.C. Ørsted's bronze medal 

Do you know a primary school teacher, who teaches science in a vibrant, inspiring and very special way?

Can the teacher titrate students' curiosity about science and lifting their professional level? Is teacher may even be the reason why high school pupils choose one or more science and then apply for higher education in the field of education and training. Science?

Then you have great the opportunity to pay tribute to him or her. Now, for all, it has been opened up recommendations for the H.C. Ørsted Bronze Medal awarded to an inspirational primary school teacher with a very special ability to teach in the whole field of science. Both pupils as teachers and school leaders, preferably jointly, can nominate the primary school teacher of the year; to the medal.

On the occasion of the 2020 marks the 200th anniversary of H.C. Ørsted's discovery of electromagnetism, extraordinary to be awarded two medals – one to a teacher with many years of experience and one for a teacher with less many years of experience, but many good new Ideas. The medals are awarded by the Society for the Dissemination of Natural Learning and the sponsored by the engineering company Haldor Top lake .

Included is DKK 25,000 for the winner and DKK 25,000 for a science project at the school.
In addition to the medal and the honour, the winner also receives a 25,000 kroner and DKK 25,000 for a science project at the school.

The criteria for receiving the medal is that the teacher:

  • is engaged, imaginative and academically skilled
  • delivers varied and inspiring teaching
  • manages on extraordinary to lift students' academic level and
  • gives them interest in studying science and technical subjects;

In addition, the teacher's teaching much like to be:

  • visible locally, regionally or nationally and
  • as "good practice" for general dissemination in education.

About the distribution
The Society for the Dissemination of Natural Learning has set up an evaluation committee to process the settings. The Committee shall consist of:

  • Erland Andersen, Chairman of the Danish Physics and Chemistry Teachers' Association, DFKF
  • Anja Cetti Andersen, Professor of Public Understanding of Science and Technology
  • Brian Ravnsborg Christensen, Chairman of the Danish Association of Biology
  • Lars Bo Kinnerup, President of the Association of Geographers
  • Jorgensen Løye Christiansen, Chairman of the Association of Teachers in Science at Teacher Training
  • Ole Stahl, Haldor Topsøe A/S
  • Jeppe Willads Petersen, UNF and Rungsted Gymnasium

We award H.C. Ørsted the bronze medal and pays tribute to the winner on 20 April 2020 in the H.C. Ørsted Building on Copenhagen University in connection with one of the lectures in the Society of Natural Learning Distribution.

In 2019, the first H.C. Ørsted bronze medal was primary school teacher awarded to:

Jeannette Overgaard Tejlmann Madsen from Asgårdskole near Køge.

By 2020, it will be 200 years since H.C. Ørsted discovered electromagnetism. Engineering firm Haldor Topsøe A/S and the Society for the Dissemination of Natural Learning (SNU) have as a prelude to this in 2019, a collaboration was partnered to promote the dissemination of science and technology for the Danish people. It will now continue in 2020.
