The company for the spread of nature and Ørsted will celebrate the 200 year of electromagnetism by the honor of researchers and high school teachers
In 2020, it was 200 years since Hans Christian Ørsted discovered electromagnetism and, on that occasion, the energy company Ørsted has partnered with the company for the spread of nature to raise awareness of Hans Christian Ørsted, his epoch-making discoveries and their importance For modern life.

The cooperation between the company for the spread of nature and Ørsted will focus on promoting the dissemination of science and technology to the Danish population by, among other things, the promotion of skilled high school teachers in science and technology and Unique scientists in physics and chemistry. The new cooperation implies that the company will be able to distribute the H.C. Ørsted gold medal for the first time since 1989.

The gold medal is awarded after 30 years again here in 2019, and then once again in 2020 in the very 200 year of H.C. Ørsted's discovery of electromagnetism. One medal must go to a chemist, the other to a physicist. The medal is awarded in collaboration with the science company.
The H.C. Ørsted Gold Medal is awarded to a person who has completed world-class research in physics or in the field of chemistry. Ørsted A/S supports the distribution of the H.C. Ørsted Gold medal, to which a travel grant of 75,000 kr. The gold medal will be awarded for the first time in October 2019 and the recipient is selected by a nomination committee chaired by Professor Klaus Bock. 2019 nominations are expected to be convened with a deadline of 31. March 2019.

At the same time, Ørsted supports the award of the Hans Christian Ørsted bronze medal, which is given to particularly inspiring high school teachers in science and technology. The medal follows from 2019 a travel grant of DKK 25,000 to the beneficiary and an amount of DKK 50,000 for a project at the school in connection with the teaching. The medal is awarded the next time in December 2019.
