Ørsted considered itself both a scientist and a writer. He had an early talent for language and already in 1796 gets a gold medal for an award assignment on "The Borders
between the poetic and prosaic languages". In 1809, he published the textbook "The Science of Nature's Ordinary Laws", introducing a number of new words to facilitate the reader's understanding, and he continues to form new words throughout his scientific career. That's about 2,000 words, a good portion of which is still in daily use.
