After the last lecture of the season, there is the award of the Hans Christian Ørsted Medal in bronze with a subsequent reception where there will be some salt, sweet and bubbles.
About the medal recipient:
Associate Professor Bjarning Christian Grøn has since 1973 been employed at Viborg Cathedral School and with great passion and pleasure taught physics, mathematics and astronomy, the latter was introduced at the school on his initiative. His high professionalism and great inventiveness and helpful approach make him appreciated by both pupils and colleagues, and he is a natural mentor to younger colleagues.
In his teaching, Bjarning Green often takes its starting point in the interests and curiosity of pupils and focuses on showing students how physics and astronomy are used in ' The real world ', just as he often involves external partners in his teaching.
His ability to motivate applies not only to the scientifically interested pupils, and he has a glance that interest in science must be awakened early and has for many years arranged special bridging activities for the primary school classes of the municipality
He is also very concerned with the scientific profession's cooperation with other subjects in different contexts and of bridge building to higher education, where in several cases he has established cooperation with the universities.
In addition to teaching, Bjarning has made a significant contribution to the dissemination of natural sciences at local, regional and national level. He has been an initiator and participates in a wide range of project groups, focus groups, development works and committees.
From the long list of his participation in projects include
• Multidisciplinary teacher training courses in many different contexts, thus also at the Energy Museum in collaboration with a historian.
• Teacher training courses in the framework of the physicaries, including To Iceland and Rome.
• Star evenings at the Cathedral School with lectures and observations
• Teacher book writer and of on a wide range of professional books, the most recent being the World of science – the basic course of NV, 2017.
• Collaborate with Rikke May Kristthorsson on a book about Niels Bohr.
• Participate in innovation projects in a regional context with businesses and institutions.
Finally, Bjarning has participated in development work under Danish Science colleges and has for a number of years served as a consultant for THROUGH the Centre for teaching resources.
