From the smallest particles to the largest structures

The standard model for the smallest particles of the material was a great triumph for the last century. But it cannot be the last word on the structure of the material. The mere presence of "dark matter" in the universe says there must be more. With new international instruments, the LHC accelerator in CERN and the ESAs PLANCK satellite, we are investigating the possible extensions of the Standard Model.
