An introduction to H.C. Ørsted as both scientist and cultural person
description
On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of H.C. Ørsted's discovery of electromagnetism, the Society for the Dissemination of Natural Science (SNU) created an exhibition about H.C. Ørsted.
An exhibition that focused not only on Ørsted's great discovery, but also on his lesser known, but certainly also significant, discoveries and contributions to the Danish language and society.
In this book we review and elaborate on the topics in the exhibition. It can therefore be a very good introduction to H.C. Ørsted as both a researcher and a cultural person.
The exhibition was shown in the Round Tower in Copenhagen and at SDU's library in Odense in 2020 and at the Steno Museum in Aarhus in 2021.
The Society for the Dissemination of Natural Science was founded by H.C. Ørsted in 1824 and owns part of his original possessions, which formed the basis of the exhibition.
