The anniversary letter "Hans Christian Ørsted – the Unity of Spirit and Nature" is one of a total of 12 signature projects that, through the national dissemination initiative "HCØ2020", celebrate the 200th anniversary of H.C. Ørsted's discovery of electromagnetism. H.C. Ørsted was in his day Denmark's leading naturalist and at the same time one of the leading cultural personalities of the Danish Golden Age, and the book tells about the many aspects of Ørsted's work.

His discovery revolutionized the scientific world, but also his influence on Danish culture was profound and far-reaching. Ørsted developed the Danish language and introduced many new Danish words such as volume and fire soul.

In his circle of friends were important Danish writers such as Adam Oehlenschläger and H.C. Andersen, who found inspiration at Ørsted. Unfortunately, relatively few foreigners know about H.C. Ørsted and his cultural and scientific pages, which is why the book is published in English.

The anniversary book contains a collection of articles from a number of humanists and scientists and contains historical photos and illustrations.
